Xpir Terms of Service

About Xpir

Xpir is an expiry date tracking app that helps users manage food, medicine, subscriptions, documents, warranties, cosmetics and other items with important dates. Xpir sends reminders before items expire and helps you reduce waste.

Your Account

An account is required to use Xpir. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure, ensuring the information you add is accurate, using Xpir only for lawful personal purposes, and not attempting to misuse, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with the app or its underlying services.

You may delete your account at any time inside the app from Settings > Delete Account.

Free Tier and Xpir+

Xpir is free to download. The free tier allows you to track up to 25 items and create up to 6 categories. Xpir+ is an optional paid subscription that removes these limits and hides ads. Monthly and yearly plans are available. Both plans include a 7-day free trial.

Free trial terms, pricing, renewal dates and billing frequency are shown on the upgrade screen before you confirm a purchase. Subscription management, cancellation and refunds are handled by the store where you subscribed — Apple App Store or Google Play.

Not Professional Advice

Xpir is an organisational and reminder tool only. It does not provide medical, nutritional, legal, financial, food safety or any other professional advice. For medicine dosage and disposal, food safety decisions, legal documents, financial commitments or any safety-critical matter, you must consult official labels, qualified professionals and authoritative guidance. Do not rely solely on Xpir for any decision with health, safety or legal consequences.

Reminders Are Not Guaranteed

Xpir provides expiry reminders as a convenience feature. Notifications may be delayed, blocked or not delivered due to device settings, operating system behavior, battery optimisation, network conditions, permission restrictions or service interruptions outside Xpir's control. You are responsible for independently checking expiry dates for critical items.

Camera, OCR, PLU Scanning and Shelf-Life Estimates

Xpir includes camera scanning powered by on-device optical character recognition (OCR) to help read printed text from product labels, including expiry dates, product names, brand names and batch numbers.

Xpir also includes a fresh produce feature that reads PLU (Price Look-Up) sticker codes using the same on-device OCR. Identified PLU codes are matched against a bundled IFPS PLU code database and a built-in USDA FoodKeeper shelf-life database to suggest an estimated expiry date based on your chosen storage method (fridge, counter, freezer or pantry).

These are helper features and may be incomplete, inaccurate or unavailable for some products. OCR results depend on label condition, lighting and camera quality. PLU code coverage and shelf-life estimates are approximations based on reference data and general guidelines, not individual product testing. You must review and correct all detected names, dates, categories and other fields before saving. Xpir is not responsible for decisions made based on scanning results or shelf-life estimates.

Subscriptions and Purchases

If Xpir+ is enabled, purchases are processed entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play using the platform's native purchase flow. No payment information is handled by Xpir directly. Billing, renewals, refunds, cancellations and payment method changes are managed by the store where the purchase was made. Deleting the Xpir app or your account does not automatically cancel a subscription.

Ads

Free users may see ads served by Google AdMob and other third-party ad networks. Xpir+ subscribers do not see ads when premium access is active. Ads are subject to Google's advertising policies. Xpir does not control the content of third-party ads.

User Content

You retain ownership of the item names, notes, photos, categories and other content you add to Xpir. By using the app, you grant Xpir a limited licence to store, process and display that content solely to provide the service to you. You must not add unlawful, infringing, harmful or misleading content.

Privacy

Your use of Xpir is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains in detail what information is collected, how it is used and your choices.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account inside the app from Settings > Delete Account. You can also submit a deletion request at https://xpir-app.web.app/deletion. Deletion permanently removes your Xpir account and associated app data, subject to technical processing time, backup systems, fraud prevention, security requirements and any applicable legal obligations.

Changes to Xpir

Xpir may add, change or remove features over time. Some features may require internet access, store approval, third-party services or an active Xpir+ subscription. We will update these Terms when material changes are made.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Xpir if you violate these Terms, misuse the app, create security risks or use the app for unlawful purposes.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Xpir is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind. Xpir is not liable for missed reminders, incorrect OCR or scanning results, inaccurate shelf-life estimates, expired or unsafe items, financial losses, health or safety issues, data loss, or any other damages arising from reliance on the app.
